The fifties

„Camping Hopfensee“ was founded in 1954 on the occasion of an inquiry for camping at Whitsun.

A little kiosk and a washing trough complete the former equipment within the next years. The season lasted for only few weeks in the summertime. Namely, when a rain spell fell in this time, everything was over within a couple of days. It is because the vast majority of the guests arrived with tents which could not withstand the high waters endangered lake “Hopfensee”. The kiosk is enlarged again and again. The first, small restaurant is built.

The sixties

The first sanitary facilities built with mortar offer a new comfort now. The registration, at the same time post distribution and telephone exchange are between four wood scarf panels. They become the linchpin of the campsite.

The seventies

A pure summer place turns into a whole annual place: Winter camping gets possible by appropriate current and gas supply, heated wash-rooms and a comfortable inn extended. Two ski tows, adjacent directly to the camping area, are at the guests' disposal. Ski courses are offered, ice-skating and curling are high in the course on the lake always frozen up.

The eighties

At the beginning of the eighties a therapeutic department comes into being directly at the campsite - a novelty in the camping world then. A brick building makes a reception from the registration. The construction of the indoor swimming pool offers another attraction for the guests and is a milestone in the development of the campsite.

The nineties

The entry is redesigned. A little supermarket comes into being in the area of the entry. The restaurant is enlarged again once: This time around winter garden and bar!

An enormous blaze destroys the bathhouse on 01.12.1994. Structure in the value of 5 million marks is destroyed! The reconstruction lasts for a whole year. The reopening is celebrated at Christmas 1995.

The therapeutic department is extended by the first Wellness area in 1996.

The new millennium

A long-cherished idea finds her putting into action: Our games house arises! Together with football and tennis court it rounds off the sporting supply. An Internet room is also available now.

The reception is increased. The building houses further offices and a representative reception room apart from rentable cabins and little sanitary facilities. The Wellness-Spa “1001 night” gets more and more fully developed, the supply enlarged permanently due to growing popularity.
